"There are only three things in life that matter – good friends, good chocolate and, oh dear, what was that other one?"

~Anon
I love chocolate.  It's one of my best friends.
When a new chocolate cafe opens in Ice District you bet we were going to check it out.  Happily they invited me and my two cute dates along to check it out.

Whether you’re in the mood for a chocolate treat, a weekend brunch, an inspired lunch or just the most amazing dipped ice cream cone you’ve ever had (in our humble opinion), one of our three store concepts—Cacao 70 Eatery, Cacao 70 Sweet House and Cacao 70 Dip Shop—are sure to hit the sweet spot.

The space is light, bright and funky.  My boys loved watching the construction elevators on the building next door too!  It's really quite exciting to see the changes to this area and I cannot wait to see what pops up next!
 I really want that wallpaper!
They offer delicious chocolate treats to take home too.
Perfect gift for me, in case your reading this husband!
Told you my brunch dates were cute!
 Loved the playful menu.
I chose the Americocoa to drink.  Its dark, smooth and not sweet in a perfectly balanced chocolate way.  I could have drunk 4 more of them.  I will be trying out the Mexicocoa next time.
The boys went for a Cacao 70 Salted Caramel Frappe.  I am not a Frappe fan but when they were not looking I stole some and it was really good.  Not overpoweringly sweet like the ones I have tried in the past and the caramel sauce is delicious.

THE CHOCOLATE FRUIT CREPE: A thin French crepe stuffed with bananas & strawberries and drizzled with your choice of dark, milk or white chocolate.
THE BLACKJACK: Cacao 70 waffle and mini-scoop of soft-serve vanilla ice cream,
dipped with black sesame chocolate, whipped cream, crème brûlé cheesecake, strawberries and black sesame seeds.

This was my choice.  Ice cream cone, on cheese cake on a waffle!  Yup, all that!  Every element was well done.  The sesame sauce was seriously good.
THE CAMP-OUT: Cacao 70 waffle and mini-scoop of soft-serve vanilla ice cream, dipped with milk chocolate, whipped cream, torched marshmallows, brownies and caramel sauce.

THE VERDICT: We loved it!  It's playful enough to appeal to all ages but so well delivered it's certainly not just for kids.  We couldn't finish the waffle combos (though I really did try my very best), so next time I think I will bring a good friend, grab a combo and get two spoons!  I also had my eye on the fondue options and I think we will be back as a family for some chocolate fun very soon.
So if you really love chocolate I recommend checking this fabulous place out.

If you don't love chocolate I am not sure we can be friends anymore.

Just kidding, but you don't like chocolate, that's just weird!

Cacao 70 Sweet House is located at 10111 104 AVE NW, UNIT 118, Edmonton, AB, T5J 0J4, just inside the Edmonton Tower.  They are open to serve all of your sweet desires Monday to Thursday 8:00 am-8:00 pm, Friday: 8:00 am-10:00 pm, Saturday: 10:00 am-11:00 pm and Sunday: 10:00 am- 7:00 pm.  I love that they are open later on Fridays & Saturdays because, come on, that's exactly when we have to have chocolate right now!

We were invited to check out Cacao 70 Sweet House.  I did not get paid to say nice things.  Images, chocolate covered children and overuse of the word fabulous are as always my very own.
