TONIC TALK

Merry Christmas, happy new year and all that jazz. It's been an embarrassingly long time since I graced this space but if you have nothing interesting to say you should perhaps just keep quiet until you do. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
I have quite a few delicious cocktails to share, a new local Alberta gin to review and even a no alcohol gin review (don't worry, it's not all dry January preachy, I promise). I will be sharing some recipes for homemade bitters to make those Old Fashioned sing a little brighter. There might even be some food. Of course there will be food!
To kick things off I decided to share my favourite tonic's right now. As much as a great G and T is all about that delicious gin the tonic makes up the majority of the drink so it's pretty darn important.
Naturally Light Fever Tree- Fever Tree is my favourite tonic hands down. Their range of delicious flavours perfectly compliments so many gins. The right amount of fizz that holds throughout the drink. It's certainly on the pricier side at $5.99 for four bottles but totally worth it. The Naturally Light is my personal choice as its subtle flavours don't get tangled up with the gin and the calories I save can go on chocolate. Win, win.
President's Choice Diet Tonic Water- This little can is a surprising little tonic. Perfectly sized, great fizz, light but delicious flavour and seriously cost effective for us gin drinkers at $2.88 for 6 cans. It's a very neutral tonic that goes well with most gins and I always have this is in my fridge.
I love seeing the expanded choice of tonics on the market now and I thoroughly enjoy exploring their flavour against different gins. If you are ever in need of guidance on what is the best tonic and garnish for you and your choice of gin check out the Ginventory
Let me know what your favourite's are?

I read aloud this review to my husband. He asked me if I wrote it since it is exactly how I think. Love your commentary, jokes, and views on products. Please keep writing. I enjoy your blog.
