I am no expert, but I have two kids and I have worked with children whilst doing a qualification in childcare, learning and development.  I believe that happy kids make for happy parents and the odd activity aimed at children will go a long way to keeping everybody sane! 

In my opinion free stuff is best.  Kids don't care how much something costs, so keep it simple, keep it cheap- and better still free!
