JOEY SHERWOOD: NEW LOCATION

Thursday, June 11, 2015

I love a good party and JOEY Sherwood threw a good party!  I had the pleasure of attending their Media Party and it was clear that this was not a "soft opening" but rather a well tuned event that showcased what they have, what they plan to do and who they plan to cater for.

Everything was sleek; delicious cocktails, hand rolled sushi, made to order ice cream and super smart and efficient staff.  The room was not really filled with the usual food bloggers (well a few of us yeg folks), but rather a carefully collected group of target clientele.  It was a smart move as the night felt cool, smart and alive.

I loved the layout of the room with its central bar and fabulous patio area.  The open kitchen is a cool feature and everything just feels right about the space.  Having said that I am pretty convinced that they have put the bathroom stall doors on the wrong way around!  It may have been the many delicious cocktails I consumed, but the stall doors open inwards giving you about 2 inches of space between the toilet and the door- now I am pretty sure most of us wont fit in that kind of space so your choices include squeezing up next to the toilet, straddling the toilet or hopping onto the toilet!  None of those options are ideal, especially wearing a dress!

The main dining area has large, custom, pendant chandeliers and I loved the super cool original neon artwork from Todd Saunders, a well-known American Neon Artist;

A part of the new elements people will see is an open kitchen, equipped with a sushi station, guests will be able to see the culinary team in action at all times. Central to the restaurant is an open bar, a visual focal point, where fresh juice is pressed and cocktails are crafted.

Regional Chef Dan Green will head up the kitchen and is excited to launch the new spring menu at JOEY Sherwood. “The new location couldn’t come at a better time,” said Chef Green, “with the launch of our spring menu. Our guests can sit on the new patio and enjoy a fresh blueberry mojito and share a Mezze Plate. The string lights overhead, summer breeze and creamy hummus, refreshing tzatziki, Macedonian feta will have you thinking you’re on vacation.”
The new location will open on June 11 at 11am and will feature 322 seats in total with over 90 of them being on the patio.

I will certainly be heading there again and again.  Great food, fabulous drinks and just a great space to be in.  I suggest you check it out!
