5:2 FAST DIET - WHAT DOES A DAY LOOK LIKE?Thursday, February 26, 2015
Curious about what 500 calories looks like? Well this is one day's worth of eating and drinking on the Fast Diet;
I make myself a latte every morning and therefore I see no reason not to do the same on Fast Days. I change from 2% milk (Semi Skimmed) to 0% (Skimmed) and carefully measure 1/4 cup of milk.
- Skimmed Milk Latte- 20kcal
At lunch time I usually have a green juice or a salad. Today was a juice day. This juice was 1/4 of a cucumber, 1 tsp ginger, 1 cup of spinach and half a lime.
- Fast Day Green Juice- 30kcal
3pm is a killer time for me. Normally I would be reaching for a bowl of cereal or a sliced banana with Nutella on each slice at this time of day. The kids are home from school and there is a mad frenzy in the kitchen of hungry children and homework. I made a super low calorie soup to get me through it. Simply mix 1tsp instant beef stock with 2 tsp chopped cilantro (coriander), 25g spring onions, 4 sliced grape tomatoes and a cup of boiling water.
- Fast Day Soup- 23kcal
FAST DAY PRAWN NOODLE SALAD
- 100g cooked prawns
- 1 red pepper
- 10g spring onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup chopped red cabbage
- 50g rice noodles, soaked in water
- 10 sugar snap peas
- 1/2 carrot, peeled and thinly sliced
- Juice of half a lime
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 1 x dried chilli, crumbled
- 2g Furikake
- 1 tsp fish sauce
- 10g spring onion, sliced thinly
Let the dressing ingredients sit a little to meld the flavours and then toss through the salad.

I drank lots of water all day and three cups of tea with 10ml skimmed milk in each one (12kcal in total). In the evening I drank a slimline tonic water with lots of ice and a slice of lime.
So for this Fast Day I ate 497 calories.
