Being a parent is like being on a long and windy path.  It's sometimes picturesque and perfect.  It's sometimes uphill and hard work.  It's a path I am proud to take and glad I started along it. 

This post should have been posted yesterday but the pair in the photo had a delayed flight to attend with and by the time they got here there was only time to drink gin- enough excuse for me! Good times over the next three weeks!  Oh look it's gin o clock.........

This odd looking, grainy photo is a quick snap I took in between dusting, cleaning, changing sheets and generally getting my house ready for visitors from the UK.  The hubby's parents arrive tomorrow and we are all super excited!  We have not seen them since November 2011.  They are staying in our executive unfinished basement- hence the pink and plastic walls.  I know you were thinking it was a designer look that we paid a fortune for, it's just so darn stylish!  We added a few of Harry's drawings to the wall to try and hide all of the pink and plastic, I think we just about got it right.  This will be their home from home and I just cant wait for that first gin and tonic- I am such a bad influence on Janet, she can easily be led astray after a few gins (My perfect kind of house guest!)

Harry is super good at drawing.  He drew this picture to go in Daddy's office so he does not forget where all the bits of a body are.  In case you are wondering Daddy is a Forensic Scientist so it's not that weird to have pictures of bodies on the wall.  Harry is a super cool chap and his drawings are also very cool!

Today was sunny and bright and the perfect day for pink lemonade by the pool.  I carbonated some water (with my still amazing Sodastream) and then blended a whole un-waxed lemon, 4 tbsp sugar and a few frozen Saskatoon berries.  I sieved the mixture and then added it to the water.  Me and the boys enjoyed it very much.  Today was a very good day.

Inside the bowling alley it's dark and they play the music way too loud but if they didn't do that it just would not be the bowling alley!  Tips from Daddy go in one ear and out of the other- both boys seem to favour the throw themselves and the bowl down the lane approach.

I am a little ashamed to admit that I get very sick of cleaning up Lego from the floor.  I see their little Lego faces peering up at me and at times I just drive over them with the vacuum.  I listen to them ricochet up the pipe and carry on like nothing happened!  Harry if you read this one day please know I only suck up the boring ones that look the same, never your cool Star Wars ones, I promise!

This big, fat chocolatey cookie is all mine.  Once the kids are in bed I will sit and eat it at to myself- no sharing, no splitting it in half- it's all for me!
